Just can't resist sharing these immortal words of William Blake about the Tiger!
Tyger! Tyger! burning bright
In the forests of the night
What immortal hand or eye
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?
In what distant deeps or skies
Burnt the fire of thine eyes?
On what wings dare he aspire?
What the hand dare seize the fire?
And What shoulder, and what art,
Could twist the sinews of thy heart?
And when thy heart began to beat,
What dread hand? and what dread feet?
What the hammer? what the chain?
In what furnace was thy brain?
What the anvil? what dread grasp
Dare its deadly terrors clasp?
When the stars threw down their spears,
And watered heaven with their tears,
Did he smile his work to see?
Did he who made the lamb make thee?
Tyger! Tyger! burning bright
In the forests of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Dare frame thy fearful symmetry
What immortal hand or eye
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?
In what distant deeps or skies
Burnt the fire of thine eyes?
On what wings dare he aspire?
What the hand dare seize the fire?
And What shoulder, and what art,
Could twist the sinews of thy heart?
And when thy heart began to beat,
What dread hand? and what dread feet?
What the hammer? what the chain?
In what furnace was thy brain?
What the anvil? what dread grasp
Dare its deadly terrors clasp?
When the stars threw down their spears,
And watered heaven with their tears,
Did he smile his work to see?
Did he who made the lamb make thee?
Tyger! Tyger! burning bright
In the forests of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Dare frame thy fearful symmetry

That is a beautiful poem for some beautiful ginormous cats!! I wish I was that big then no one would ever say no to my demands!
Kaze
I have always loved that poem. The photos you chose make great illustrations for the words.
Wow, those were some amazing photos. I was mesmerized by the one of the tiger and the deer.
Enjoyed the poem and pictures!
Our lady likes to say that we domestic kitties are the closest thing most of the humans will ever get to petting the wild cats! She likes to call us "house tigers". Love the poem, too!

hi there, mr cat doctor. since i don't your name, that's what i've been calling you! mol
thank you for stopping by with your well-wishes for me. in your work, i'm sure you've seen kitties with my illness often.
since we moved, mama hasn't found a new pediatrician for me. part of it is money, and another part is just not knowing the area.
can i ask you a question...about how you know when it's time to offer assistance for the bridge journey?
mama believes in euthanization. she says 'euthanize' comes from euthanatos which means good death. she interprets that to mean a death with choice.
in some ways, mama says watching me decline is like being with her own mama who had ovarian cancer. it was clear that grandma wasn't going to get better, that there was no way to take care of her, and that she was in constant pain. not everyone knows how much of a roll mama played, and how hard it was to say 'yes'. she's sometimes felt some guilt, and most of the time knows that any choice she would have made would not have kept grandma alive longer than another week.
i have little energy. i don't eat much. last night, she tried 4 different foods to try to tempt me to eat. i didn't want anything. i drink a little water, but not much. i still purr for her, and sometimes try to wash her face for her.
i've always been a very little kitty--at my highest weight, i was about 7 pounds--13 years ago. i'm much less than five pounds now. there's a big indentation behind my ribs before my hips.
how do we know when it's time? please help us understand how to answer that question, if you can.
love

Great blog.
you know, my human often looks at me and wonders if I was made by He who made the lamb. Then I do something mean and she thinks ' no, you came from the dark side!' . ha ha
I adore that poem! Thank you for posting it, and the pictures of those magnificent tigers.
