Flat Headed Cat Distribution

Even as little is known about this secretive cat, it is believed to exist in rainforests close to wetlands at an altitude below seven hundred feet, in Borneo, Indonesia, Malaysia, Sumatra and Thailand.

The genus name, Prionailurus, is derived from the Greek words "prion", meaning saw (the tool that slices wood), and "ailur", meaning cat. The species name Planiceps, comes form the Latin "plani", meaning flat, and "ceps" is derived from the Greek Cephalic, meaning head!
