Last week we received some very exciting news here at our local zoo. One of the African lionesses gave birth to two healthy cubs. A lot of the lions and tigers of our zoo had been transferred to other cities' zoos and we were running short of lions here (only seven left!). So it was obviously great news and cause for much celebration. Even better news was that the mother had not killed the babies and was feeding and taking good care of them. The same lioness had three babies an year or so back and had refused to feed them. This time we had copied the lion milk formula from big cat rescue's website and were prepared to try it though fortunately the lioness is acting like a good mother and the babies seem healthy and prosperous.
Here are some pictures of the two lion cubs at three days of age ~ have you ever seen tinier lions :)

Oh look at those lovely kits! Thank you for sharing!
Those little cubs are beautiful. I am glad the mom is taking care of them.
So glad to hear that Mom is taking care of her babies this time. They are so little. Maybe because Mom is a little older now she knows more what to do.
I wish I could pet those sweet cubs and their gorgeous mama, too.
so tiny, so defenseless.....hope they'll be doing fine.
How adorable! Thanks for posting those great pictures.
