Noted Wildlife Vet passes away

Nearly a fortnight ago, the famous Kenyan Vet and conservationist Zahoor Kashmiri passed away. He was a great man apart from being a qualified vet and a passionate conservationist. His efforts for the African wildlife will always be remembered. Throughout his career he worked tirelessly for the welfare of the endangered animals. It is unfortunate therefore that he was killed while working for one of these animals. He was killed by an angry adult bull elephant in Ethiopia whom he and his team had anesthetized during a satellite telemetry collaring expedition. More here:

This just goes to illustrate the inherent dangers associated with close interaction with wild animals. The people who work for their welfare and conservation often give up the life of ease and comfort and sacrifice so much for their passion and for the protection of the defenseless animals...they deserve all our respect and admiration...

In other somewhat 'lighter news', I was given the 'I love your cats' award by the very talented blogger at Purrprints, who designs many beautiful cat-related items at her Etsy shop. Thanks :)

I am going to pass this award to the following seven great furriends:

Ben and Lucy

Black Cat

Casper, Patches, Cleo and Gizmo

Hendrix

Karen Jo

Miss Peach

The Ballicai

Have a happy weekend :)

It's a real shame that such a talented and dedicated man was killed by an animal he was trying to help. Congratulations on your award and thank you very much for passing it along to me.

Yes, there is much sadness involed with helping animals, sometimes the highest price is paid...
