Sabre-toothed Cat specimen found

Fossil remains of a long extinct sabre-toothed cat Homotherium Crenatidens were discovered recently in North Sea, shedding more light on this group of felines. Termed as 'Scimitar Cats', the Homotherium is a genus of cats that lived from approximately five million to ten thousand years ago in parts of Africa, Eurasia and Americas. This particular specimen is said to belong to quite a large animal, weighing close to nine hundred pounds, twice the weight of a modern lion. So definitely a very interesting find - this one being only the second sabre-toothed specimen to have ever been recovered from the North Sea. More here.
